Critical Consciousness and Social Change - HONORS


Course Description

This course is an exploration of the root causes of and solutions to social problems such as racism, capitalism, sexism, and gender-based oppression. Students will read classical and contemporary authors on movements for social change, strategies for organizing, and the development of consciousness. As an honors course the students will be expected to complete extra assignments to gain deeper insight into the subject matter.

ICS.D017.-40Z: Fully ONLINE. Honors class, need permission from instructor to add, please attend class on first week of the quarter and obtain and Add Code. This class meets each week on scheduled days and times as noted in the class listing. This class involves 12 hours of active, hands-on, work making a difference in our communities. The course has been modified so that this does not involve more time than a regular class. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.
