Philosophy at De Anza

New Degree!

We're excited to announce that De Anza College now offers an Associate Degree for Transfer in Philosophy

Philosophy Department iconOur responses to questions about the nature of reality, the nature and limits of human knowledge, and the good life shape the course of our own lives as well as those of our communities. Studying philosophy allows us to take these questions seriously, and to appreciate the challenges they pose.

The value of a philosophical education does not end here, however. Philosophical study hones critical thinking skills as few other endeavors can, leaving us more capable in our pursuits as citizens, as professionals, and perhaps most importantly, as individuals in the world.

We invite you to consider joining one of our classes!

"What is your aim in philosophy?-To shew the fly the way out of the fly-bottle." --WittgensteinQ: What is your aim in philosophy?

A: To show the fly the way out of the fly-bottle.

– Ludwig Wittgenstein
