    The CTE Committee meeting was called to order by Randy Bryant at 12:19 PM.  

    VP of CTE Updates – Randy Bryant 

    New Team Member Introduction – Randy introduced Andrew Suarez, the new Internship Coordinator and Job Developer. Andrew shared a brief introduction and expressed enthusiasm about supporting CTE programs and collaborating with campus partners.

    Department Staffing Transition Tiffany Rodriguez-Tran is on maternity leave following the birth of her daughter. Brittany Rubio is serving as Acting Program Coordinator for Career Training, Dual Enrollment, and Noncredit Programs. Randy thanked the group for their patience during this transition and noted additional staffing changes with his retirement at the end of June.

    Program Achievements – De Anza College was recognized in the media for launching the first Artificial Intelligence degree program in the California Community College system. Additional updates included the development of a nursing concurrent enrollment partnership with San José State University, the awarding of a $2.4 million English Language Learner grant through the CAPE Consortium, continued progress on the Forensics Crime Lab project, and the planned launch of the Industrial Automation program in Fall 2026.

    Curriculum Updates – Trisha Tran on behalf of Curriculum

    CTE 67 Internship Course Trisha Tran reported that the proposed CTE 67 Internship course successfully completed review through the Curriculum Committee and is currently under review at the state level. The course remains on track for a Fall 2026 launch. 

    Additional Curriculum Committee Meeting – The Committee has requested one additional meeting before Randy's retirement to receive updates on the course and related developments. Trisha and Andrew are preparing the necessary materials and presentations for the upcoming committee meeting.

    CTE Counselor Updates – Trisha Tran 

    Counseling and Student Support Services – Trisha remineded the counseling services available to CTE students, including educational planning, career development, career readiness support, and classroom outreach related to CTE programs and career pathways.

    Retirement Celebration – Randy Bryant's retirement celebration will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Remarks begin at noon, and light refreshments will be provided.

    Budget Updates – Katrina Tran  

    Grant Funding Status – Katrina Tran reported that Strong Workforce Program Round 9 funds have been fully expended and that Perkins 2025-2026 funds are nearly exhausted, with remaining allocations committed to approved activities such as guest speakers, student recognition events, and summer cyber camp programming. 

    Perkins Budget ProposalKatrina also shared the draft Perkins 2026-2027 budget proposal, totaling approximately $793,000, which is distributed across CTE programs based on Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment findings, program needs, and workforce alignment. 

    New Fiscal Year Purchases – New purchases for instructional materials or equipment must wait until the new fiscal year beginning July 1, when Strong Workforce Program Round 10 and Perkins 2026-2027 funding become available.  

    Future Budget Planning  Randy Bryant encouraged departments to proactively plan future expenditures and meet with CTE staff and division leadership to discuss detailed spending proposals and budget priorities.

    Internship Coordinator Updates – Andrew Suarez

    Summer Internship Initiative Currently collaborating with NOVA and OTI on a proposed paid 16-week summer internship program, pending final contract approval with the City of Sunnyvale.

    Employer Partnerships Andrew reported successful engagement with Lam Research, which recently visited campus to recruit students and tour the Design and Manufacturing Technologies. Convsations with Visa are underway to develop internship opportunities for students in business, cybersecurity, data, and CIS-related programs. Andrew is also evaluating partnership management platforms that will improve employer engagement, data tracking, and outcome reporting. 

    De Anza Departments – Andrew invited departments to include him in upcoming department meetings so he can build relationships, better understand program needs, and identify opportunities to support students through internships and employment pathways.

    Dual, CTE & Noncredit Program Updates – Brittany Rubio on behalf of Tiffany Rodriguez-Tran

    CTE Marketing Materials – Communications Office is actively developing trifold marketing materials for all CTE programs and that she will be working with department chairs and deans over the summer to review progress and gather updates.

    Boys & Girls Club Outreach Events - June 4 at Skyline College, June 11 at Cañada College, and June 18 at the Orange Avenue Clubhouse. These events will provide opportunities to introduce students to career education pathways and workforce training programs. Faculty interested in participating were encouraged to contact Brittany.

    Executive Assistant – Brittany Rubio 

    Department Transitions – Brittany thanked faculty and staff for their patience during ongoing staffing transitions and noted that urgent matters may be addressed most quickly by phone.

    Grant Purchasing Appreciation – Prompt faculty participation in submitting quotes and purchasing requests enabled the department to effectively utilize available grant funding before the end of the fiscal year.

    Closing Remarks – Randy Bryant 

    Future Planning and Funding - Faculty were encouraged to plan projects and budget requests early and to work closely with the CTE team to maximize available grant funding in support of program growth and student success.

    Retirement - Randy reflected on his years of service in higher education, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with De Anza faculty and staff, and recognized retiring colleagues Mike and Deborah. He shared confidence in the continued success of CTE programs under future leadership.

    The meeting concluded with appreciation and well wishes for Randy's retirement.
