CD 53 Student Presentation Guidelines

The purpose of these activities is to share your resources and ideas with the other students in the class. By the end of the quarter you will have had the opportunity to participate in at least 30 to 40 different art experiences.

Plan your Student/Classroom Presentation

In planning your activity, gear it to preschool children from two to five years of age. If you prefer to plan an activity for a different age group, please discuss this with the instructor before you make your presentation. All activities must be age appropriate - that is, geared to the physical and cognitive abilities of that age child. If someone else does the activity you planned before you do, you must pick a different activity.

  • Write up a description of the activity.
  • Bring a copy for every class member.
  • Include the following information in your description:
    • TITLE OF ACTIVITY
    • AGE GROUP
    • MATERIALS NEEDED
    • PROCEDURES
    • VARIATIONS
    • TIPS, EVALUATIONS, COMMENTS, FEELINGS
  • Make sure you give a copy of the activity to the instructor so that you can receive credit for the assignment.
  • You will need to bring all the materials needed for at least 20 - 25 people to participate in your activity. Plan sufficient paper and supplies.
  • Arrive at least 10 minutes early to set up on the day of your presentation.
  • Ideas for activities can be found in your textbook or in the resource books found in CD 15. These books can be used in this room only. The room is open daily from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Suggestions

  • Activities should be process oriented instead of product oriented.
  • Activities should be simple and child oriented.
  • Materials should be non-toxic.
  • Bring newspaper to cover tables to make your clean-up easier.
