    Public Comment

    • Dawn stated that there are workshops that will be coming out and we will see how the contract unfolds
    • Mark expressed concern about no decision being communicated about vice chancellor of human resources district position
    • Dawn mentioned a captioning issue has not been resolved yet. Ed Breault is working on it right now

    Needs and Confirmations

    • There were no volunteers for Affordable Housing Task Force, Hiring Committee for Faculty Coordinator of Equity in Online Education, and the six faculty needed to serve on Stakeholder Sub-Groups Measure G Bond Projects
    • Mary closed the forms in support of Work to Contract.
    • Maurice Canyon, counselor Student Success and Retention Services, volunteered as the replacement for one faculty rep on Equity Action Council (EAC). His appointment was approved.

     Making Affinity reps Voting Members of Academic Senate (second read)

    • A 2/3 vote of the Executive Committee is needed make this change to the by-laws
    • Dr. Tabia Lee shared a statement on the Proposed Action to Grant Academic Senate Voting Privileges to Racial and Ethnic Affinity Group Associate Members (statement posted in report outs for this week).
    • C. Balm wants all affinity groups to be represented and feel equity
    • We have three affinity groups and when added to the Academic Senate when Constitution and Bylaws were updated in 2021. These groups were added as non-voting associate members. All voting members in Academic Senate are faculty.

    Early Alert (first read)

    • Sushini discussed the college Retention Program and Early Alert.  The Early Alert Process can be raised by anyone including teachers, students, etc.  Usually, teachers initiate the alert. Refer to Early Alert Guide. Then the retention program connects with the student and helps them access a counselor.  
    • Request was made forAcademic Senate to contribute $100 to fund raffle for those faculty who use Early Alert this quarter Spring 2022
    • Faculty can reach out to Patricia Del Rio or Sushini Chand for information

    Resolution on Improving the Name-Change policies and procedures in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District (first read)

    • Recommended we change the name change procedures

    Equity Plan Re-Imagined

    • Today is first reading; second reading will be 5/9/22
    • Last winter 2021 senior staff approached equity office for revised equity plan

    Budget Task Force update

    • Funds from seven faculty SER positions are not currently available but are expected to be released in June or July 2022. See chart in Report Out.
    • It is suggested to wait until Shared Governance is decided upon before take action on this

    Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) Convocation update

    • Mary wants everyone to know where SLO assessment can be entered.  Use “SLO Course Assessment”  to enter SLO and the link is alsoon the De Anza SLO website.  
    • The goal is to assess every class at least once every five years before revising the course
    • The 2022 Convocation is tentatively scheduled for May 13th. The desired outcome is for each department to gain the support they need to respond to the questions on the 2022 Program Review.
    • There was an ask for $250.00 to offer insentive for attendance.
