    Approval of Notes

Add the following statements to April 10th notes:

"The team were missing a vote at the start of the meeting and it came in during the meeting and was incorporated into the faculty list and programs for further consideration."

"The committee affirmed by vote the IPBT’s decision to send the first ten positions on the list for a permanent reduction to College Council’s review and approval.

    Review of positions

Faculty positions – apparently ESL and ES were swapped by accident but the list on the IPBT webpage looks correct as it incorporates all votes from the membership.

In terms of an updated list of faculty who are retiring, we will consider at some point but we don’t have that information yet.

How do we deal with retirees and early retirement incentives? Until you put in a irrevocable letter of resignation, the early notice won't count for reduction purposes.

Ranck: Classified positions in Instruction: we are looking at vacancies and considering these as well as part of overall reduction. Will be shared with group as those come in. If there is a growth opportunity, it’s a bit harder with classified vs a faculty position.

Administrators: Espinosa-Pieb feels strongly that we are under-administered especially compared to other local area colleges. Woodbury shared statistics from area colleges showing enrollment, number of deans and ratio of students to deans. Shows we are under-administered in comparison to most of the area schools.

    College  Enrollment Deans Ratio
    San Mateo 10,000 7 1429
    Mission college 10,200 10 1020
    Ohlone 11,979 9 1331
    Chabot 13,145 7 1878
    Foothill College 13,630 8 1704
    SJCC 14,385 7 2055
    West Valley 14,635 8 1829
    Skyline 17,000 11 1545
    De Anza college 18,730 8 2125
    Diablo Valley 22,000 15 1467
    SFCC 65,000 7 9286

     Review of Programs

IPBT members will be ranking at some point programs following our inquiry/analysis for viability.

Perhaps we should remove the numbers on the program sheet? The numbers from programs do not necessarily indicate where programs rank, it is more of a list at this point. Math is listed as a division, which it is not. Athletic teams listed but not specific programs/sports.

It was stated before this process started that viability consideration does not mean a program will be discontinued, there are other actions that can be taken following viability consideration including: continuance, suspension, discontinuance, combining programs with our sister college.

IPBT reviewed several programs and discussed at length.

One of IPBT members made a data request of Mallory which is: what is the representation of targeted student populations on our athletic teams? This data may be available on the program review data sheets.

    Meeting adjourned at 4:59 pm.
