Approval of Notes – April 27, 2021: Notes were approved with wording updates.

De Anza Student Government (DASG): Luiza shared that DASG is planning the Racial Justice Town Hall set for Thursday, May 13. Kimberly Lam, student representative on the College Council Shared Governance Taskforce, shared that the Taskforce is working on a redesign of the the Shared Governance structure for as early as Fall 2021.  Students discussed what changes they would like to see with the aim of a diverse representation of student voices in Shared Governance.  Goals for 2021-22 are being discussed. Foothill-De Anza Board of Trustees has approved the 2021-22 budget.

Discuss Data Updates: Christina stated that with Mallory Newell’s work the Faculty Hiring document site has been updated. The Hiring Data/Ranking for 2021-2022 has been checked for accuracy and the statistics Animation classes have been separated out from statistics for Production classes. Another spreadsheet Ethnicity Data for Academic Year 2020-21 showing full-time and part-time faculty diversity by ethnicity has been added.

Break into Constituency groups for discussions: IPBT members and guests broke into groups (breakout rooms) by four constituencies: administrators, classified professionals, faculty, and students. Based on the desire to have the voice of affinity group members in each of the breakout rooms, Khoa Nguyen joined with the students and Pauline Wethington with Classified Professionals. Other affinity group members joined with their constituency groups as appropriate.

Past precedent is for constituency groups to meet outside of IPBT. Breaking into these groups during a regular IPBT meeting was to ensure the discussion could happen despite everyone’s current busy schedules. The ask was to begin discussing how one might answer the questions in the individual workbooks and then to formulate questions for the Deans and/or department chairs to answer at the next IPBT meeting (May 11, 2021). It was underscored that no one will be asked to share their individual workbooks. Instead, an anonymous ranking platform will be used to collect recommendations of individual faculty.

Members requested a timeline update for meetings from 5/11/2021 until the end of the quarter. Members were asked to continue sending questions for the Deans to IPBT tri-chairs.
