    RAPP Meeting Minutes

    MLC 255/Hybrid Mtg. 10am-11:20am Tuesday Oct. 14, 2025

    Meeting summary

The meeting began with an approval of the minutes and segued into a continual discussion of proposed changes which included: decision-making flow chart for program reviews and requests, the establishment of proposed Faculty Prioritization Committee, Program Sustainability Committee, Senior Leadership Team, Campus Facilities, and Campus Budget Committee.

Discussion was led by Tri-Chair Mallory Newell. Dean of Equity Michelle Hernandez gave overview of Equity Plan, and RAPP Committee member Simon Kang’a presented an innovative AI tool that could potentially save committee members time while also helping inform RAPP conversations.

    Equity Plan, Dean Michelle Hernandez

Dean Hernandez presented the De Anza Student Equity Plan for the 2025-28 years. The focus included how the Plan aligns with RAPP in regard to the continual efforts to close the equity gap. The plan proposes specific institutional actions to address these challenges, such as embedding equity goals into program review and resource allocation and providing ongoing professional development on culturally responsive pedagogy. Dean Hernandez has been vetting this plan to all shared governance groups and has asked for feedback from staff and faculty by a updated deadline date of Oct. 31.
