SUPERCHARGE YOUR EDUCATION!
What is the Humanities Mellon Scholars Program?
The Humanities Mellon Scholars program is a transfer support program and a learning community, designed for students who want to build a strong foundation in the humanities to support the major of their choice. The program is intended to expose a more diverse population of students to the advantages of a humanities-infused education.
As a Humanities Mellon Scholar at De Anza, you will earn a Certificate of Achievement in Humanities, complete university transfer requirements and take courses that fulfill the degree requirements of your major.
In addition, the program offers each participating student
- A designated faculty adviser
- A paid internship for up to four academic quarters
- Financial help for textbooks and other course material
- Invitations to workshops and social events
The program helps and guides you to meet the eligibility requirements for transfer into the University of California and California State University systems.
It also guarantees admission to the University of San Francisco (USF), provided that you meet eligibility requirements. Each student who transfers to USF will be eligible for up to $20,000 in scholarships. At USF, you can choose among specific pathways that will allow you to graduate with a bachelor's degree in two years.
To learn more about transfer requirements, Mellon Scholars are welcome to contact Patty Guitron in De Anza's Counseling and Advising Center at firstname.lastname@example.org.
