High Beginning English as a Second Language
Course Description
This course focuses on the development of English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills at the high-beginning level with an emphasis on explicit, direct grammar instruction. Students will practice listening to basic forms of conversational English and speaking with comprehensible pronunciation; develop basic reading comprehension and vocabulary; and practice writing simple and basic compound sentences, short narratives, explanations, and descriptions.

ESL 400.01: NON-CREDIT Fully ON-CAMPUS. This class meets on-campus each week on scheduled days and times as noted in the class listing. This noncredit class mirrors the credit class ESL 200. Noncredit courses are intended to gain general knowledge, learn a new skill, upgrade existing skills or enrich understanding of a wide range of topics. This class is non-transcriptable and cannot be used to earn an associate degree nor be used as transfer. You can earn a non-transcriptable vocational certificate upon completion. This is a 12-week class.
