Mythology and Folklore
Course Description
This course is a comparative study of mythology and folklore from prehistoric, classical, and contemporary cultures around the world. It examines how myths and folktales reflect and shape a culture’s beliefs, values, art, and literature. Emphasis is placed on major mythological themes, archetypes, and symbols across diverse traditions and historical periods. Students will develop critical reading, writing, and analytical skills as they explore the continuing influence of mythology and folklore on literary and cultural expression.
