Inclusion in Practice –
Intercultural Studies, Part III

We’re looking forward to the last ethnic studies panel discussion tomorrow – Friday, May 28 – 2:30 p.m., hosted by the Intercultural and International Studies Division. The discussion will focus on building multiracial alliances.
We’ve also released a new video from the CAN/DID Inclusion Series leading up to the event. This installment is the third and last in our series on Inclusion in Practice at De Anza.
In the video, Edmundo Norte, dean of Intercultural and International Studies, discusses the importance of humanizing educational institutions and “welcoming all the dimensions of our humanity" in our work.
Over the past year, we’ve been examining important topics related to equity and social justice, with videos and social media posts about the Black Lives Matter movement and anti-Asian racism.
We will continue to address important issues during the 2021-2022 academic year, with installments focused on topics that are important to De Anza's Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities, among others.
Ethnic Studies Multiracial Panel Event
Join the college community for the conclusion of "Our Histories, Our Experiences, Our Lives: From Learning to Collective Action," a series of panel discussions which brings together faculty representatives from core areas of ethnic studies, along with students, classified professionals and administrators who share their perspectives.
The last panel will convene tomorrow, Friday, May 28, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The topic for the panel is Comparative Ethnic Studies – Building Multiracial Alliances.

Previous panel events have explored perspectives from African American, Asian American, Chicanx/Latinx and Native American and Indigenous studies. Recordings of each discussion will be posted at deanza.edu/iis/2021-panels.
Participation in the entire series is encouraged, for full inclusion and understanding. Please register in advance to attend.
