Approval of Minutes
March 4th, 2026
- Salvador motioned to approve, Ryan seconded, no objection, motion passed.
Public Comments
- Jayven: James and Francesca on leave until further notice
- Gavin Rust: La Voz won awards at San Francisco national contest. Thanking DASG for funding. 46 awards in 3 contests.
- Gabe Manglona: My name is Gabe Maglona, I am the current Public Policy Liaison, and I want to be heard loud and clear on this. About one hour ago, I was informed by former Chair of Administration James Nguyen that he was unexpectedly removed from his position as Chair of Admin and will not be coming back as part of the Senate. Shortly afterwards, I heard from a fellow senator that both Nguyen and Election Commissioner Francesca Cacchione were put on leave. I would like to inquire as to why the entire administration committee, consisting of Chair of Administration James Nguyen and Election Commissioner Francesca Cacchione, were removed without my knowledge. As a fellow senator belonging to the Administration Committee, I believe it would have been not just reasonable but absolutely expected that I be brought into the loop sooner. I believe it is simply unacceptable that I was not informed of such a drastic update to my entire committee being removed until nearly an hour before the Senate meeting, and not even by any advisors, but by my fellow senators. Moreover, I would appreciate information as to why the decision to remove the entire administration committee was made ahead of the Senate reviewing an election-related appeal, and why it was made before the elections could be certified. Not only is it rude and unreasonable that a member of the administration committee was left in the dark as the rest of his committee was removed; I also find it very unreasonable that this happened right before the certification of elections. The most important role of the Administration Committee. Unless proven otherwise, I will consider this to be a miscommunication at best, and blatant exclusion at worst. I yield my time.
- Daisy Castillo: next week 10:00pm-3:00pm Vida and Chill event at east cottage, near flint garage.
Advisor Announcements
- Hyon Chu: this is our last meeting of winter quarter, thank you for your passion. Some of your peers may be on leave, as senators, it’s important to know that there are processes on campus that are confidential. Just because it’s not done in the way you hope to have recieved the messages, doesn’t mean there’s any kind of wrongful intent behind it. As leaders of this group, please uphold our standards of student conduct, and the integrity of this association, and not gossip. If you have questions, you can come to me directly. I cannot share everything, but before we come to a judgement, please be reflective.
- Dayna: Thank you for everyone’s hard work today at the mini flea market. Thanks, the senate for all of their participation.
- Dennis: Anytime students ask for advice, please make sure you give out accurate information. Talk to your advisors to clarify.

Business Item # 4
Elections Appeal: Allissa Lo
- Jayven - I would like Senator to motion this item to be tabled or to be referred back to the committee due to Brown act violation. Brown Act explicitly prohibits the use of direct communication, personal intermediaries, or technological device that is employed by a majority of the members of the legislative body to develop a collective coherence as to action to be taken on an item by the member of the legislative body.
- Jacob C. motions to refer this item back to committee. No seconds motion failed.
- Clarification: There are some technical issues that need to be resolved, advisors cannot discuss everything per FERPA. We do not have the majority of administration committee Here and therefore not ready to discuss this item as a senate.
