BIOL11 - Human Biology

This course is a general introduction to biology and its principles, with a focus on the human body, public health issues, evolution, and the interactions of humans with the environment. The course will introduce the unifying principles of biology while examining the evolution, anatomy, physiology and variations of the human body, and the physical and societal roots of disease. It will also emphasize the ways human health concerns affect broader social issues surrounding equity and diversity, and the ongoing impacts of human-related environmental alterations.

What to Expect for BIOL11 Summer 2023 Class

If you are registering for this BIOL11 - Human Biology class during Summer 2023, please note that this class will be offered as a HYBRID class. The lab portion of the course will be in-person at De Anza college FOUR DAYS a week Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The lecture portion will be online and asynchronous ("self-paced" with NO Zoom meeting).  The "TBA" does not mean that a time will be given, it reprsents the online asynchronous portion of the class. The lecture materials will be located on Canvas in the form of video recordings of the lecture content and PDFs of lecture materials. Resources you need: You will purchase the lab manual from De Anza bookstore.  However, for lecture, this class uses a freely available online textbook, and you do not need to purchase.
