Our Mission

The Men of Color Community (MC²) is open to all students, with a focus on supporting the success of men of color through community building, mentorship, and culturally grounded guidance from peers, faculty, and staff.

Our mission is to foster belonging, empowerment, and academic success so students can thrive as valued members of the De Anza College community.

More About MC²

The Men of Color Community (MC²) was created to address equity gaps in retention, transfer, and completion among men of color in higher education. Through culturally grounded support, leadership development, and community building, MC² helps bridge the gap between the institution and the students it serves.

MC² provides holistic support beyond academics, including counseling, mentoring, workshops, university visits, and community-building activities that promote belonging, cultural pride, and student success. While open to all students, the program centers the experiences of men of color who have historically faced systemic barriers in education.

MC² is part of De Anza College’s commitment to equity and student success and continues to grow to serve more students each year. In January 2026, MC² became an official A2MEND chapter, expanding leadership opportunities and connecting students to a statewide network dedicated to the success of men of color.
