Closing the Flint Center 

After examining numerous options for addressing structural, safety, accessibility and usage issues in the 50-year-old Flint Center building on De Anza's campus – at an estimated cost of $50 million or more – the Foothill-De Anza Board of Trustees voted on June 10, 2019, to permanently close the Flint Center.

Since then, the college and district have engaged in further discussions about the best uses for the Flint Center site and for construction funding available through measure G.

On May 8, 2023, the Board of Trustees heard presentations and discussion about Measure G and plans for a "mega project" that would include an Event Center and a new Services for Students Building. Presentations included

In June 2023, a De Anza College Measure G Task Force, established by College Council, began working to develop new recommendations for the Measure G “mega project," and how to spend funds available to De Anza. Meeting agendas, minutes and related documents can be found on the Task Force website.

In June 2024, Interim President Christina G. Espinosa-Pieb reconvened the task force to collaborate on planning for use of Measure G funds on the De Anza campus. Further updates will be posted on the Measure G homepage.
