Welcome, Rising Scholars!

The Rising Scholars program was created to support students who were previously incarcerated or had other experiences with the criminal justice system, or who have been affected by a family member’s incarceration.

Our mission is to create a pathway into higher education and to serve students from enrollment through graduation, by addressing their academic and social needs.

Rosalind's Headshot

Rosalind Aaron

My name is Rosalind Aaron. I previously worked with CYLC, where I earned a Leadership and Social Change certificate. I currently serve as an Ambassador for Rising Scholars and work as a DA Administrative Assistant II. I am intentional about engaging with programs and resources at De Anza that support me in achieving my academic and career goals.

My goal is to transfer to San Jose State University as an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a focus in Educational and Community Leadership. I am grateful for the opportunities Rising Scholars has provided to explore my major through internships and employment. The consistent guidance and support from Rising Scholars continues to shape and strengthen my academic decisions.

My name is Jesse Clay Camper III, and I am a second-year English Major at De Anza College. I plan to graduate in 2029 and continue my education at San Jose State University. Outside of academics, I enjoy working on my Chevrolet Impala LTD, which has helped me develop patience and problem-solving skills. I am also passionate about writing song lyrics and exploring a wide range of musical genres, both of which influence my creativity and love for language.
