Apply For Admission
- You must be currently admitted to De Anza before you can register for any class.
- It's easy to apply online. De Anza uses the statewide community college application system known as OpenCCC.
- To submit an application, you will need to create an account on this system. Just follow the prompts when you click on the OpenCCC application link. For more assistance, please visit the Application Tips webpage.
Check Your E-Mail for Campuswide ID (CWID) Number
- After you apply, you should receive your 8-digit student ID number, also known as a Campuswide ID or CWID, by email within 7-10 business days. You need this CWID to register for your class.
- Use your CWID and date of birth (MMDDYYYY) to log in to MyPortal, where you can access the registration system and other online services.
- Once you log in the first time, you will be prompted to create a new password.
- If you run into trouble, check the MyPortal Log-In Tips webpage.
- If you haven't received a "welcome" email with your CWID after 10 business days, you can email daapplications@deanza.edu for assistance. Be sure to include your first and last name, date of birth, the term you applied for and your application confirmation number.
Choose Your Class – or Classes
- Look over the list of Senior Pathways courses to find the ones that interest you
- Next, check the class schedule for days and times when each class meets. (Some courses are offered in multiple sections that meet on different days. You can choose the one that you prefer.)
- Make a note of the 5-digit Course Registration Number (CRN), which you will need to add the class in the MyPortal registration system.
- Click on the "Title" link for each class to get complete details, including any prerequisite requirements.
Find Your Date to Register for Class
- Find your date to register for the upcoming term. Your date will depend on several factors. If you are not pursuing a degree or transfer, you will probably be in Registration Group 7.
- You can confirm your date by checking MyPortal: Click on the Student Registration card, open the Registration Dashboard, select "Prepare for Registration" and then select the term for which you are registering. This will open a screen that shows your date to register. (See detailed instructions in our Registration Guide.)
- You'll want to register as early as you can, for the best chance of getting into the class that you want.
Sign Up For Your Classes
- When it's your date to register, log in to MyPortal and then click on the Student Registration card.
- Select the term – such as "2025 Fall De Anza"
- If you already know the CRN for the class you want, select the "Enter CRNs" tab.
- Type in the CRN and click "Add to Summary"
