Asha Sudra is a queer, disabled, multidiciplinary artist, abolitionist activist and educator, and child of the East African Desi diaspora currently located in the Bay Area of California. Originally from LA, ASHA has been a public school teacher for the last 10 years in the bay area. She is an international poet, striving to use art to create radical change. ASHA has been on the cover of Content Magazine, and featured by KQED Arts, THEM, Gay Times, Gaysians, many of the prominent poetry events in the Bay Area, as well as been an active speaker, emcee, and performer at numerous rallies and marches for civil and human rights. Her Tedx tells her own personal story of identity through poetry. Her latest book release and subsequent art exhibition, Not Your Masi’s Generation, tackles mental health and healing from generational trauma.

Programs and Services

ESL Workshops and Tutoring / Tutoring for Speech 

  • ESL General Workshops: 50-minute small group sessions for everyday conversation practice and on other special topics such as idioms, listening, reading, and pronunciation.
  • ESL 251/255 Support Workshops: 50-minute small group sessions on the topics covered in ESL 251 and ESL 255, including pronunciation, presentation, verb tenses, adjective clause, and sentence structure.
  • ESL/Speech Tutoring: 30-minute one-on-one sessions for help with ESL listening and speaking homework or any other topics related to ESL and oral communication skills.

 World Language Tutoring (Not Available during Summer 24)

  • Weekly individual sessions for help with the world language courses offered at De Anza.
  • Available languages: Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, French, Italian, and Spanish
