    Senate Business

The Tuesday, May 28, 2024 meeting of classified senate was held on zoom. Communications officer, Juan Diaz, called the meeting to order at 2:09 PM. President, Adriana Garcia was away at a conference.

Juan and Debee Armstrong asked attendees to review both the previous meeting notes and current agenda posted in the chat. They were approved by consensus.

Academic Senate president, Eric Woodbury next spoke about his goal to form a program consultation committee. This would relieve some of the work of the RAPP committee, helping make decisions about programs the college might wish to either implement, modify or remove. He requested feedback from classified staff to know if there was interest in having this committee form. He answered attendees questions, emphasizing how this would give a broader voice to constituents about the development of various campus initiatives.

Juan posted the annual shared governance assessment survey which classified senate needs, like other governance groups to complete. He reserved fifteen minutes to give attendees time to complete it. The document will eventually be posted on the college planning website, after being reviewed by Mallory.

Alex reported the elections committee had completed the first round of voting and would be holding a run-off election for student services and technology senator.Juan reported the RAPP committee will need a classified representative for next year, and the equity action committee is also requesting a classified staffer to fill a tri-chair position.

Debee reported the police chief's district advisory committee is continuing the discussion of acquiring tasers. She emphasized the chief is seeking feedback from all governance groups.Adam reported Rapp is continuing to prioritize positions. Maritza reported on several upcoming DASG events.

Juan posted a form letting people give appreciations for classified staff and the hard work various individuals have done. There were several "shout-outs" of appreciation to the people who helped with classified appreciation week and those who got lunch for the grounds and custodial workers. Everyone agreed classified appreciation week was successful.

The meeting adjourned at 2:59 PM.
