Reminder: New Course Numbers
Dear Student,
We wanted to remind you that some fall classes have new prefixes and course numbers that are different from last year. These include English Composition, Introductory Statistics and a few others that you may need to take for your certificate, degree, general education
or transfer requirements.
- If you need to take English Composition and Reading, for example, the course formerly known as EWRT 1A is listed in the fall schedule as ENGL C1000.
- Another example: Introductory Statistics, formerly called MATH 10, is listed as STAT C1000 this fall.
The changes are prompted by a state law that requires colleges across California to use the same titles and numbers for comparable courses, which should make it a little easier for students who are planning to transfer within the UC, CSU and community college systems.
You can learn more about the changes and find a complete list of courses that have new numbers at deanza.edu/register/course-numbers. As always, we recommend consulting with your counselor if you're not sure whether a course will meet your requirements.
Best wishes,
De Anza College
