Veteran Resource Center Counseling
Scheduled Counseling Appointments
You can schedule a time to speak with a VRC Counselor in person or on Zoom.
Appointments are available for booking 10 days in advance. Students often cancel, so please check on a daily basis.

As a courtesy, we'll email and call you with appointment reminders.
Wednesday Drop-In Quick Question Counseling (In-Person @ VRC & Zoom)
Drop-in by Zoom or In-Person to see your VRC counselors on Wednesdays between 10AM and 4PM in the VRC.
- Drop-ins are typically for quick questions.
- Join the Drop-In Zoom queue here. The queue will only appear during service hours. Zoom drop-in is first come, first served.
- Drop-in In-Person at the VRC and the Front Desk will help check you in.
Plan to schedule an appointment if you are a new student in need of a comprehensive educational plan, or if you have multiple topics to discuss with your counselor.
Get to know your VRC Counselors
As a veteran, dependant, or military-affiliated student, you should plan to meet with one of our dedicated VRC counselors at least once each quarter. Get to know our VRC counselors.
Winter Quarter Math and Physics Tutoring @ VRC Student Lounge
Drop-in Math and Physics tutoring on Wednesdays from 3 - 5PM
- Starting Wednesday, January 7th!
- In addition to Math tutoring, we now offer PHYS 50 and PHYS 4A tutoring.

Steps to Enroll with VA Benefits
Apply for Financial Aid
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Apply for state grants or other aid – learn more by visiting the De Anza Financial Aid – Steps to Apply webpage
Apply for Admission to De Anza
- Submit an application to De Anza College by visiting the Apply and Register webpage and clicking on "Apply Now"
- If the CCCapply application or your Myportal login do not work as described, please fill out the Admissions and Records Office Help Form.
Apply for VA Educational Benefits
- Complete the online application at VA Educational Benefits
Order Transcripts
- Order transcripts from all colleges that you previously attended
- Request your Joint Services Transcript transcript
- Request your Community College of the Air Force transcript (if applicable)
Complete the Assessment Process
- Check your English (or ESL) and Math course placements; and take action if needed.
- If you completed English/ESL, Math, Chemistry or Biology courses at another college or received qualifying scores on high school AP exams, see How to Request Prerequisite Clearance
Complete Orientation
- Complete the new student orientation – learn how by visiting the Orientation webpage
Meet with a Counselor
- Use our online scheduler to arrange a telephone or video conference with the Veteran Resource Counselor
Meet with a School Certifying Official
- Meet with a School Certifying Official and bring the following documents:
- Certificate of eligibility; Ebenefits status of application.
- Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty ( DD- 214 Member 4) ; or current orders.
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (N.O.B.E.) Reservists Only.
- Official Transcripts from all colleges attended (unopened)

The mural outside the Veteran Services office on campus was created by De Anza students and faculty – with financial support from the Rotary Club of Cupertino and the Foothill-De Anza Foundation – to honor the hundreds of veterans, active-duty personnel, reservists and military dependents who attend De Anza.
