Narrative Speech

Prepare a narrative speech telling a story about what you experienced during your lifetime. Explore an event, meeting someone for the first time, attending a ceremony, playing a sport, dancing, martial arts, drawing, singing, or any other activity that you experienced and want to share with your audience. Use the audience-centered approach.

Visual aids are not permitted for this speech assignment.

Offer your personal perspectives and reach out to your audience. The narrative speech should be delivered extemporaneously (not read or memorized) from 4 to 6 minutes.

Describe what impact an event, a person, or experience had on your life. Review what you learned from this experience and explain how your audience benefits from the lessons that you learned. Be prepared to respond to any questions the audience may have following your speech.

Submit a full-preparation outline to Turnitin on Canvas before  your assigned speaking day.
