Public Comments
Anish: Thank you for everyone who helped with the talent show. It was great.
Ryan: Marketing is making a talent show video. They need events committee interns to help make videos.
Van: Thank you to the whole events committee for making the talent show happen. We had more audience than I expected. Thank you.
Advisor Announcements
Dayna: Thank you for commenting about the talent show. It was the most complicated event and I appreciate everyone, including the faculty. We had around 170 attendees.
Business Item 1
Title: Outlook of Spring Events 2025
This item is to discuss upcoming spring events.
Presenters: AnishAnish: We have a destress event (update to come). There is also Cultural Day, but SR&E committee will mostly handle this with ICC. The mini flea market was today.
Business Item 2
Title: Flea Market Update
Presenters: Anish, Rami, DaynaAnish: The final flea market for this academic year is on June 7. Members are encouraged to join. The Mini-Flea Market was great.
Dayna: Jenny will take over coordinating on June 7, and Dayna will begin her ICC role after that.
Business Item 3
Title: Mini-Flea Market Recap
Presenters: Anish
Status: Tabled
Moved by Jin, seconded by Lauren.
Business Item 4
Title: Diversity in Politics Panel Information
Presenters: Rami, Sophia, Anish
Status: Tabled
Moved by Lauren, seconded by Jin.
Business Item 5
Title: Talent Show Recap
Presenters: Anish, Van, AllAnish: Part 2 had the most attendees. There were enough volunteers, and attendees had a good experience. Judges were well picked. For next year, planning should start earlier (fall or spring quarter), and more food trucks could be contacted. Recommend fewer than 10 performers next year for easier coordination. Consider holding events in winter quarter when there are more DASG members, though winter may be difficult for senators due to transfer applications.
Van: If we know the procedure, it will require less effort next year.
Lin: MCs need more practice time; performers had rehearsal, but MCs did not.
Ryan: Time management was overestimated, but overall it was a successful event.
Lakshya: More judges are needed next year.
Lin: Chair and senators should communicate more about the script.
Audrey: The event should be more organized.
Zoey: It was unorganized this time, but now we know how to do it for next year.
Van: Set a specific planning time that all senators can commit to.
Ryan: Responsibilities should be more equally distributed; the chair handled too much this time.
Lauren: This was our first event; we shouldn’t blame people in our own committee.
Business Item 6
Title: Event Lab
Status: Tabled
Moved by Jin, seconded by Lauren.
Business Item 7
Title: Destress Event Updates (Finals Week)
Presenters: Lauren, Jin, AnishLauren: Collaborating with Active Minds and HEFAS for a llama destress day. Need to confirm the boba budget.
Dayna: Budget is flexible; submit reimbursement form ASAP to check available funds.
Lauren: Llama part is almost set; event date is June 18.
Introduction and Approval of Prospective Interns
- None.
Public Comments
- Anish: Tomorrow is the internal election for this committee. Good luck to all running.
If you don’t get a position, don’t get discouraged—there are other options.
Van: Even if you don’t get a position, please bring ideas to the events committee.
Joey: From previous experiences, make sure elections can be held late at night.
Adjournment
- Anish adjourns the meeting at 4:40 PM.
