Full-time (12 units) requirement

International F-1 visa students who will be studying from inside the U.S. must enroll and complete a minimum of 12 units each quarter in order to maintain their immigration status in the U.S. Plan accordingly!

Hybrid/On Campus Course

F-1 visa students who are planning to enter the U.S. for the fall 2022 quarter are required to enroll in at least 1 hybrid or on-campus course. A hybrid course is a combination of an online and in-person instruction. By enrolling in this course, you would meet immigration regulations. The ISP office will offer a 1-unit hybrid course called Counseling 5: Introduction to College that will allow you to meet this requirement. We will send you instructions on how to enroll in this course at a later date.

Health Requirements  and COVID vaccination/Booster

Workshop:

  • De Anza Health Requirement Presentation
  • When: June 14, 2022, 11 am PST
  • Attend this presentation if you have questions on how to meet the health requirements.
  • Register online for the workshop.

All F-1 visa students who will be studying from inside the U.S. have to meet De Anza Health requirements. You may log on to the Health Services website  to find out what the health requirements are and how to submit them in the Student Health Portal  called PyraMed.

Proof of COVID vaccination and booster is required to come to campus. Follow these steps to upload your documents.

Important Note:

The Student Health Services does not accept any document sent via email for clearance. ALL medical related documents must be uploaded to the PyraMED portal. Due to privacy regulations under the federal HIPAA law, the Health Services office will  auto-delete email messages with medical records attached.

Submitting records to PyraMED does not guarantee that you have met the health requirements, Once the quarter starts, allow some time for the health office staff to review your documents. You should also check for secure messages sent to you via PyraMED.

There are two ways to log in to the PyraMED portal:

You will not be able to log in to the PyraMED system until you have been assigned a registration date.  Dates will be assigned in early July, check your MyPortal

 Tuition

During orientation week we will offer a workshop on tuition fees and payments. You can also review a power point presentation on the CANVAS module and are welcome to navigate through the De Anza website for additional details on the Student fees webpage. International students have time to pay their fees until the second Friday of the quarter (except for summer where tuition payment is due immediately upon registration) and are exempt from the Drop for-non Payment policy. The fall 2022 deadline to pay tuition is: October 7, 2022

Note:

if your admission was very recently processed, you may not be able to log in to your MyPortal/CANVAS/Health Portal/enroll for Assessment right away etc. Please wait a few days before contacting us with log-in issues, thank you.

Mandatory Check-In

F-1 new and transfer in (from other U.S. schools) students, as well as students who have been studying online and are entering the U.S. for fall quarter MUST report in person with the ISP office at De Anza College. You have 2 opportunities to report in person:

Thursday, September 15

Friday, September 23

Location for both days: De Anza College Main Quad

  • See the campus map
  • Parking is free through the end of 2022.
  • Bring a photo ID, such as passport or other government issued ID.

Deadline

If you decide you will not attend De Anza college, you must drop all of your classes by the due date as set by the college. You’ll find the deadline for your class in MyPortal under “View Your Class Schedule.”  This is solely the student's responsibility. Failing to drop a class before the DUE date means you MUST pay for the tuition. There is no exception to this rule. The ISP office cannot drop classes for you.

Health Insurance

Health Insurance is mandatory for all F-1 visa students who will be studying from inside the U.S.  At time of class registration, all students will be charged a fee of $576 for health coverage. If you will be studying from OUTSIDE the US, we will send you instructions on how to waive your health insurance fee at a later date.

Please follow the instructions to download your De Anza Health Insurance Card.

Please do not email the admission team about this fee but wait until further instructions are sent to you, thank you!

Health Insurance Fee Waiver Request

If you are studying from outside the U.S. in Fall 2022, you are eligible to waive your international health insurance fee.

Please follow the instructions on Fall 2022 Health Insurance Fee Waiver Request Form to submit the fee waiver request.

Important:

  • Deadline to submit the fee waiver request form: September 30th, 2022
  • Do not ask to waive your Health Insurance if you are coming to the U.S. for fall quarter 2022.
  • Even if you have never been to the U.S. and the fee was previously removed, you must request the waiver each quarter.
  • We will NOT process any Fall quarter fee waiver requests until early September. Due to the volume of fee waiver requests that we receive, we will need about 2 weeks to process your fee waiver request. The fee removal is a manual process, so please be patient and ignore the insurance fee on your account until we have a chance to remove it.

How to request a future quarter I-20

  • If you cannot arrive to the U.S. before first day of classes, you have to request a future quarter I-20.   To do so, log onto the admission portal and complete this request on the top, right hand corner of the page.
  • IMPORTANT
we receive a high volume of requests. Expect to wait a minimum of 2-3 weeks to receive your new I-20 after you submit your request for next available term. Timeline is longer for more future terms.
  • ALERT:  students may not enter the U.S. after a quarter has started. Be sure to request a new I-20 for the quarter you plan on entering the U.S. for.
